Jamia Millia Islamia University Details

Jamia Millia Islamia is a public central university in Delhi. It was established during British rule in 1920.The main founding leaders were the Ali brothers, Mohammad Ali Jouhar and Shaukat Ali. It became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988.
It is one of the best government college in india and among the best engineering colleges in delhi.

Ranking:

Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2018 ranked jamia university as 801 out of 1000 in the world.It was ranked 200 in asia by The QS World University Rankings of 2018. It was ranked 20 in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.

Mode of entrance:

Every year Entrance tests forms are filled for the various programes in jamia. The university takes its own exam for almost every programe course. But for some program, students are selected on all India basis exam such as b.tech/b.arch for which students are selected on the basis of Jee Main marks and for B.D.S. for which NEET score is considered , but filling of jmi form is compulsary.

Entrance test forms are usually filled between months of Feb. to March.Results come usually in the month of june and admission has been taken just a week or two after result.

Fee structure:

The fee structure of different courses are affordable and less than other colleges.It is about 10000 Rs per year. Fee may vary little bit on courses. For self-financed (evening programme) it may go to 30000 Rs per year. The hostel fee is also less than anywhere else. The hostel will only be allowted to you after first year of college.
Overall you will get quality education by spending less.

Foreign students and NRI:

Jamia Millia Islamia offers admission to foreign nationals under the General category, ICCR sponsored category and 15% supernumerary seats in various programs, except B.D.S.
Foreign-origin candidate may apply as Regular candidates under the General category apart from applying against supernumerary seats. The number of such candidates shall not exceed 10% of the regular seats. A fee may vary with the Indian residents.

ICCR applicants are nominated/ by the Government of India under various Scholarship Schemes of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Library:

Jamia university library known as Dr. Zakir Husain Library (Central Library) established in 1920, has collection of about 400,000 artifacts — including books, microfilms, periodical volumes, manuscripts, and rare books. The library is fully air-conditioned and equipped with new technology for efficient functioning. The library has a capacity of more than thousands of students. In 2006, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Sultan of Saudi Arabia, paid a visit to the university and donated $30 million for its Extention.
