Posted September 28, 2018 07:30:20 The Canadian Medical Association is urging doctors to be more informed about vaccine safety and efficacy.
In a letter to the AMA, the group calls on health officials to make sure that the public understands how the vaccination program works and what its side effects are.
“It is not surprising that you would need to learn about the side effects of vaccines before you take them,” the letter says.
“However, this is not the case.
You must learn about safety before you can administer one of these vaccines, and this should be a primary concern for anyone who is considering a vaccination.”
The letter also calls for greater transparency about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.
It says that the AMA wants health officials, the vaccine manufacturer and the federal government to collaborate on the development of a comprehensive list of side effects and potential side effects for each vaccine.
“The AMA believes that health officials need to ensure that Canadians are fully informed about all vaccines and their side effects,” the AMA said in the letter.
As part of the AMA’s campaign to ensure greater vaccination awareness, the organization will launch a vaccine safety website in the coming weeks that will be updated with the latest information about the use of the flu shot, vaccines in general, and the benefits and risks of each vaccine type.
